Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 August 2026
FIRSTVERSE is a screenwriting application operated by ASOSA Technologies Inc., 600 Annette Street, Toronto, Ontario M6S 2C4, Canada ("we", "us", "FIRSTVERSE"). We are the controller of the personal data described below.
Your screenplays are the most private thing you will put into this product. That is why we designed FIRSTVERSE so that AI runs only when you ask it to, and only with the information that task requires. This policy explains exactly what happens to your work, and to everything else we hold about you. Contact us at support@firstverse.io with any question about it.
1. The short version
- We store your account details and your screenplay content so the service works across your devices.
- When you use an AI feature, we send the part of your project that feature needs — never your account identity.
- We do not use your writing to train AI models, and our AI provider states that it does not either.
- We do not sell your data. We do not advertise to you. Your screenplay content is stored by our database provider and sent to our AI provider only when you use an AI feature — no one else receives it.
- You can export your work and delete your account at any time.
2. What we collect
Account data Email address, and a display name if you provide one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google — not your Google password.
Your content Screenplays, scenes, outlines, character notes, titles, and any other material you create or import. This is stored so it is available on every device you sign in from.
Cover images you upload are stored in your own browser (IndexedDB) and are not transmitted to our servers.
Usage and billing data Your subscription tier, credit balance, and a record of credit consumption. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store them.
Technical data IP address, browser type and timestamps, processed by our hosting and database providers as part of delivering and securing the service.
3. Why we process it, and on what legal basis
Where the GDPR applies to you, our legal bases are:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Creating and maintaining your account | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Storing and syncing your screenplays | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Running AI features you invoke | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Processing payments and managing credits | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Security, abuse prevention, service integrity | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Service emails (e.g. confirmation, password reset) | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Complying with tax and accounting obligations | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
4. What we send to our AI provider
FIRSTVERSE uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate and edit screenplay text. We send the smallest set of information each action needs. We never send your account identity — your name, email address, account identifier or session data — to Anthropic. (If you write your own name into a character or a story field, that text travels with the request like any other part of your work.)
Creating or recreating a scene draft. We send your scene briefing (title, slugline, scene goal, scene details, emotional direction), your Style Profile, your Story fields (logline, premise, genre, tone, world, themes, central conflict, ending direction, story rules and story avoidances), and the profiles of the characters assigned to that scene. We do not send the rest of your screenplay and we do not send neighbouring scenes.
Rewriting a selection. We send only the text you selected, a reduced version of your Style Profile, and the names and speech styles of your characters. We do not send your Story fields or any other part of your script.
Style analysis of a reference screenplay. We send excerpts: whole scenes taken from the beginning, the middle and the end of the work, up to a limit of roughly 60,000 characters. Shorter works are sent in full. If your file is a PDF we cannot read as text — a scanned document, for example — the complete PDF is sent instead. The uploaded file is not retained in our database or in permanent storage — it is held temporarily while the request is processed, then discarded. The excerpts we send are processed by Anthropic under the retention terms described below. A second request sends the resulting style profile back for cleanup.
Dictation. We send the dictated text and your chosen language so it can be tidied up. This starts automatically when you stop dictating.
Token counting. After a generation completes, the produced text is sent once more to Anthropic's token-counting endpoint so we can calculate your credit usage accurately.
When it happens
Most AI processing runs only when you ask for it. Two exceptions, so you are not surprised:
- Dictation cleanup starts automatically when you stop dictating.
- Style analysis starts automatically when you open the Style Profile page after importing a reference screenplay.
Writing, editing, importing and exporting never involve an AI call.
Training and retention
- We do not use your content to train AI models.
- Anthropic states that inputs and outputs submitted through its commercial API are not used to train its models.
- Our organisation's retention setting with Anthropic is 30 days: inputs and outputs are retained for up to 30 days and deleted thereafter. We do not currently operate a Zero Data Retention arrangement.
- To reduce cost and latency, some requests use Anthropic's prompt caching. Cached context — your Style Profile, Story fields and character roster — is held by Anthropic for up to one hour and then discarded.
No other provider receives your prompts
Requests go directly from our servers to Anthropic and nowhere else. We do not deploy any proxy, gateway, analytics provider or error-tracking service that receives your screenplay content or your prompts. We keep a usage record for billing that contains token counts, timing and cost figures — no prompt text and no content from your work.
The providers listed in the next section engage their own sub-processors for hosting, infrastructure and operational purposes, under their own data processing terms. Where your content is stored with a provider, it is processed on that provider's infrastructure. This does not change the statement above: your prompts leave our servers only in the direction of Anthropic, and no monitoring, analytics or gateway service sits in that path.
Output from AI features is generated by a machine and may be inaccurate or unsuitable. You decide what to keep.
5. Who processes your data on our behalf
We use the following sub-processors. Each processes your data only to provide their service to us.
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase Pte. Ltd (Singapore) | Database, authentication | Data hosted in Central EU (Frankfurt), region eu-central-1 |
| Vercel | Application hosting and delivery | Global edge network |
| Anthropic PBC | AI text processing | Primarily United States; processing may occur in other regions Anthropic operates in |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Global |
| Optional sign-in via Google account | Global |
Reference screenplays you upload for style analysis are not retained in our database or in permanent file storage. They are held temporarily while the request is processed, then discarded. The excerpts sent for analysis are processed by Anthropic under the retention terms in the section on our AI provider.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
6. International transfers
We are established in Canada, and some of our providers are in the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the transfer is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism. Canada additionally benefits from a partial adequacy decision of the European Commission for commercial organisations.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and content: for as long as your account exists. Your projects — scenes, story fields, characters, style profile and generated text — are held as a single record in our database and mirrored in your browser's local storage.
- After deletion: your account, screenplays and associated records are removed from our production systems. Encrypted backups may retain copies for up to 7 days before they are overwritten.
- Billing records: retained as long as required by tax and corporate law.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:
- Access — a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure — deletion of your account and content
- Portability — your data in a machine-readable format
- Restriction and objection — to certain processing
- Withdrawal of consent — where processing is based on consent
- Complaint — to your local data protection authority
You can export your screenplays at any time from within the app, and delete your account from your profile settings. For anything else, write to support@firstverse.io. We respond within 30 days.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
We use only what the service needs to function: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and local browser storage to hold your work offline and speed up loading. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
10. Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our database provider. Access to production systems is restricted and authenticated. No system is perfectly secure, so we recommend a strong, unique password and keeping your own backups of important work — the app's export function makes this straightforward.
11. Age requirement
FIRSTVERSE is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any updated version on this page and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you by email.
