Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of FIRSTVERSE, operated by ASOSA Technologies Inc., 600 Annette Street, Toronto, Ontario M6S 2C4, Canada ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to them.

1. Who can use FIRSTVERSE

You must be at least 18 years old. By creating an account you confirm that you are, and that the information you provide is accurate.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account.

2. Your work stays yours

You own everything you write. Screenplays, scenes, characters, outlines, notes — all of it. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to us, and this applies equally to material produced with the help of AI features. This is subject to any third-party rights in material you bring into the service yourself — uploading someone else's work here does not make it yours.

You grant us a limited licence to store, process, transmit and display your content solely for the purpose of operating the service for you: syncing between your devices, rendering it in the editor, generating exports, and passing the relevant portion to our AI provider when you invoke an AI feature.

That licence exists for no other purpose. Specifically:

  • We do not use your writing to train AI models, and our AI provider states that data submitted through its commercial API is not used to train its models.
  • We do not access or review your work, except where you explicitly ask us to for support, where reasonably necessary to secure or operate the service, or where required by law. We do not publish, share or sell your work, and we never use it for advertising.
  • The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except to the limited extent that encrypted backup copies persist for a short period under our retention schedule, or where retention is legally required.

3. AI features

FIRSTVERSE uses AI to draft, rewrite, refine, analyse style and clean up dictation. Writing, editing, importing and exporting work without any AI call.

Most AI features run only when you ask for them. Two run automatically: dictation cleanup starts when you stop dictating, and style analysis starts when you open the Style Profile page after importing a reference screenplay. Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what each feature sends.

  • Output is generated by a machine and may be inaccurate, generic, or unsuitable for your purpose. Review everything before you rely on it.
  • AI output does not constitute legal or other professional advice. Verify any factual information before relying on it.
  • Identical or similar output may be generated for other users. We make no claim that AI output is unique.
  • You are responsible for the material you publish, submit or sell, including anything produced with AI assistance.
  • You must not use the AI features to generate unlawful content, content that infringes third-party rights, or content that violates our AI provider's usage policies.

4. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the service
  • resell, sublicense or provide the service to third parties as your own
  • use automated means to access the service outside of documented functionality
  • attempt to circumvent credit limits, rate limits or access controls
  • upload unlawful material, or material you have no right to upload
  • interfere with the security or integrity of the service

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.

5. Subscriptions and credits

Plans. FIRSTVERSE may be offered through free and paid plans. Paid plans include a recurring allowance of AI credits, as described on our pricing page.

How credits work. AI features consume credits. Your recurring allowance resets at the start of each billing period and does not roll over. You can purchase additional credit packs at any time; purchased credit packs do not expire and remain available as long as your account is active. Your recurring allowance is consumed before purchased packs.

What credits are not. Credits are not currency. They are non-transferable, cannot be exchanged between accounts, and have no cash value. If you delete your account, any remaining credits are forfeited. If we terminate your account for a material breach of these terms, remaining credits are forfeited. If we discontinue the service, we will refund the unused portion of purchased credit packs. Nothing here limits mandatory rights you have under the law of your country of residence.

Running out. When your credits are exhausted, AI features stop until your allowance resets or you buy a pack. Writing, editing, importing and exporting continue to work.

Prices. Prices are stated on our pricing page and may change. Changes to the price of an existing subscription take effect at the next renewal, and we will tell you in advance.

Credit costs. The number of credits a given feature consumes reflects the underlying cost of running it. As models and providers change, we may adjust what individual features cost in credits. We will publish the current values and give notice of material increases.

6. Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe, acting as merchant of record. Stripe is the seller for your purchase and is responsible for the transaction, applicable taxes, and the receipt or invoice you receive. Stripe's terms apply to the payment itself.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.

7. Cancellation and refunds

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep access until then, and we do not pro-rate the remainder.

Refunds. If the service does not work as described, contact support@firstverse.io and we will make it right — including a refund where appropriate.

Consumers with statutory withdrawal or cancellation rights. Depending on your country of residence, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase. We honour all mandatory consumer rights. Where a purchase involves immediate access to digital content, the request for immediate performance and the corresponding acknowledgement are obtained during checkout. Where the transaction is processed by a merchant of record, that party's terms govern the sale itself.

Consumed credits are not refundable, since the underlying AI processing has already been paid for.

8. Your data and your account

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

You can export your screenplays at any time. We strongly recommend keeping your own copies of important work.

You can delete your account from your profile settings. Deletion removes your content from our production systems and cannot be undone. Encrypted backups may retain copies briefly before they are overwritten, as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Availability

We aim to keep FIRSTVERSE available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, third-party outages and technical faults happen. Where a fault is on our side and materially affects your use, contact us and we will find a fair resolution.

AI features depend on external providers. We may need to limit, suspend or change them at short notice if a provider requires it, or if a provider is unavailable. The editor, your projects and the export functions do not depend on those providers and remain available.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, opportunities or anticipated savings. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

We are not responsible for loss of content caused by your own deletion of it, by third-party software or browser extensions, by clearing your browser storage, or by a failure to keep your own backups. The export function exists so that you can keep copies, and we recommend using it.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer protection law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue the service, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your work.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and update the date. If a change is material, we will notify you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

14. Miscellaneous

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us.
